Yep, Issa Rae is coming back to the big screen this summer in ‘Barbie’ movie. Issa is playing one of the Barbies in the movie, along with Will Ferrell, Ana Cruz Kanye, Ryan Gosling and a host of other A-listers. And apparently fans can now see the long-awaited trailer.

Issa Rae just recently got married in 2021. So your girl has been busy busy. Shooting for films, walking the runways, launching clothing lines and getting hitched. You know she doesn’t sit still. We love to see talented melanin on the big screen. And not to mention, the actress is holding it down as she is the only Black “Barbie” in the movie. Nevertheless, the film debuts in theaters everywhere June 21. In the upcoming film, Rae will star as “President Barbie. Actress Margot Robbie is the main star in the film as Barbie.
In July 2022, Rae spoke with “TODAY” and revealed how Gerwig convinced her to do the role. At first, the California native told the outlet, “I was like, ‘This sounds crazy, but OK. Let me just read the script.’”
And after she read it, the “Insecure” producer says she understood Gerwig’s vision for the project.
“When you read the script, you’re like, ‘Oh, I get it!’ It’s very funny, and it’s just very specific to her,” she continued.

However, Barbie isn’t the only film Rae is featured in, in 2023. The 38-year-old actress will also portray Spider-Woman in the forthcoming Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse movie. She stars alongside actors Daniel Kaluuya, Shameik Moore, Brian Tyree Henry, and many more.
The Barbie film is centered around well….Barbie of course. She charts the city as she was outcast by society. Obviously, Barbie and friends go on an “adventure.” And I guess we’ll have to watch the movie to see what actually takes place. So, if you’re a Barbie fan, I’m sure you’re stoked about the film.
