The Victims at the University of Virginia Were Football Players

According to Yahoo News: “University of Virginia president Jim Ryan identified the victims as Devin Chandler, D’Sean Perry and Lavel Davis Jr., all current members of the football team.”

Moreover, earlier in the press conference, it was noted that an attacker who happened to be a former student and football player opened fire on the University’s football team Sunday night round 10:30 pm, while traveling on a bus.

Nonetheless, Christopher Darnell Jones, Jr, the suspect — opened fire allegedly from his Black SUV. He is listed as being on the college football team in 2018.

However, on Saturday, the University of Virginia played Pittsburgh in a home football game. On Sunday, some of the Cavalier players, along with non-athlete students, boarded a charter bus as part of a class field trip to see a play in Washington, D.C.

But, as the bus returned to campus late Sunday night, everything erupted.

UVA Police Chief Timothy Longo had just given a description of the suspect. Christopher Darnell Jones, 22, student and former football player, and of the vehicle Jones was believed to have been driving. Whereas Longo was then informed that Jones had been taken into custody.

“We will do everything we can to honor their lives,” Ryan said. “This is an extraordinarily difficult day for our community.”
