According to the commission, the remaining available phone numbers in the 240/301 area are estimated to run out next year, after which time, new 227 numbers will be assigned. If you’re wondering if you’ll keep your same phone number, not to worry. You will.
The New Area Code Is Projected To Serve The Same Geographic Area In Maryland Currently Using The 240 and 301 Area Codes.
According to a press release, the PSC voted on August 3, 2022, to approve a petition filed by the North American Numbering Plan Administrator (NANPA), which is the neutral third-party entity that allocates telephone numbering resources.
