California Police Shoot and Kill Teen Fugitive By Accident

A 15-year-old California girl who was the focus of an Amber Alert was shot and killed on Tuesday by CAPD when she ran toward them.

California police shot Savannah Graziano on Tuesday during a police chase.

During a domestic violence incident, the father of Anthony John Graziano, 45, shot his wife. And then authorities sent an Amber Alert out on Monday warning that he had kidnapped his teenage daughter, Savannah; and was on the run. Sheriff Shannon Dicus of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said during a press briefing Tuesday that the chain of events began with a homicide.

Graziano was killed in the shootout as was his daughter, whom the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department claimed was in “tactical gear.”

What Happened

At 10:25 a.m. local time Tuesday, California police received a phone call from someone who said they believed they saw Graziano’s car. Barstow deputies arrived to the area, on Highways 395 and 58, and “encountered the suspect vehicle,” Dicus said.

“A pursuit ensued, and as a result of that pursuit, the suspect immediately starts firing at our deputies, putting several rounds through the windshield of the patrol unit,” said Dicus.
