Queen Elizabeth II Dies At 96

Britain and countries around the globe are mourning the death of Queen Elizabeth II. For seventy years, she was the country’s longest-reigning monarch. And her death was confirmed on Thursday at age 96. Prince Charles is now King Charles since Queen Elizabeth has passed.

But just earlier Thursday morning, she was alive, even though doctors were concerned for her health.

“Following further evaluation this morning, the Queen’s doctors are concerned for Her Majesty’s health and have recommended that she remain under medical supervision,” the palace said in a statement.

Moreover, the BBC had even suspended regular programming to monitor the Queen’s health with live broadcasts from the news teams.

Nonetheless, Central London outside Buckingham Palace is filled with large crowds as the Queen’s memory is amplified with tributes and words of adoration. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who are currently in the U.K. for a series of charity events, are traveling to Scotland, according to a representative for the couple. Princess Anne, Prince Albert, Prince Edward and wife Sophie, Countess of Wessex will also be by their mother’s side in Balmoral.

Elizabeth Alexandra Mary was born in 1926, the first child of the Duke and Duchess of York. Princess Elizabeth Alexandra Mary, known by her family as Lilibet, was born April 21, 1926 —  third in line to the throne after her uncle and her father.
