However recently, in July 6 he was sentenced to a year of house arrest for failing to register himself as a sex offender. Further, he was convicted of attempted rape in New York more than two decades prior. The conviction stemmed from an incident that occurred with a 16-year-old girl in September 1994. Consequently, he served roughly four and a half years in prison. On top of that, he’s required by law to put his name on a local registered sex offender list anytime he relocates.
TMZ broke the story. Prosecutors inside the U.S. Attorney’s Office argued that home detention wouldn’t be punishment; because Nicki and Kenneth live in a luxurious mansion in a gated Calabasas community.
Nonetheless, Petty, 44, also received three years of probation; and a fine of $55,000, according to NBC. Finally, the music executive pleaded guilty in September 2021 to one count of failure to register as a sex offender.
