Sadly reporting that the former Bronco NBA wide receiver Demaryius Thomas was found dead in his Georgia home on Dec. 9, 2021 at the age of 33. In summary, his family believes his death was the result of a seizure.
“He had been suffering from seizures for over a year; and we believe he had a seizure when he was showering”, his best friend and cousin LaTonya Bonseigneur told the Associated Press.associated press
Furthermore, Bonseigneur said that a friend called Thomas’s driver to check in on him when he “couldn’t get a hold of him.” The driver, who had access to Thomas’s home because of concerns over the seizures; found him in the shower.
In fact, Thomas’ teammates also vouched on Thursday; that they believed seizures could have played a part in his unexpected death. In addition, they released a statement early Friday morning. Without doubt, the team offered condolences; while sharing in the grievance of the loss of their beloved teammate. The team deemed Thomas as “an incredible player; and a special person.”
“We are devastated and completely heartbroken by the sudden; tragic passing of Demaryius Thomas”, the Broncos said. “D.T. was beloved by our entire organization; his teammates; and coaches and our fans. Recently retiring as a Bronco; we were very much looking forward to celebrating Demaryius for years to come; as one of the greatest players in franchise history.”
The team went on to conclude, “Demaryius humility, warmth; kindness and infectious smile; will always be remembered by those who knew him; and loved him.”
