As a winner for his role as Venus and Serena’s father in the movie “King Richard”, Will Smith is now revoked from the Academy. The not-so-shocking news comes Friday; after the Academy’s CEO and VP issued a statement to CNN confirming the decision to ban Will Smith’s appearance to the Oscar’s for the next ten years. They took it a small step further, adding in the clause, that Smith cannot attend any event held by the Academy, not just the Oscars.

Will Smith Responds To Punishment

The actor told Page Six on Friday, “I accept and respect the Academy’s decision”. After all, he did resign after several celebrities came against the Bad Boy actor for his course actions at The Oscars. Shortly after videos surfaced of outrage; Smith resigned from the Academy.

“I am resigning from membership in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and will accept any further consequences the Board deems appropriate,” Smith said in a statement shared with CNN by his publicist. Smith’s statement concluded, “Change takes time; and I am committed to doing the work to ensure that I never again allow violence to overtake reason.”

The Arabian Nights actor seemed to take this punishment like a man, owning his wrong doing and eventually apologizing. Unfortunately it wasn’t enoughto grant access again to the Oscars. At least not for ten years. I’m sure the time will go by fast though. *shoulder shrug!
