Will Smith Got Banned From The Oscars For The Next Decade

After Will Smith walked up onstage and slapped Chris Rock for taking a soft jab at his wife’s close cut haircut when he said, “Lookin forward to seeing you on G.I. Jane 2” to Jada Pinkett Smith.

The Academy immediately went into deliberation about the banning of Smith’s award he’d receive for his role in the Venus and Serena movie, ‘King Richard’.

They had made a statement early on, saying it ‘could take weeks‘ to come to a final decision. Shortly after, due to backlash and guilt, the ‘Summertime’ rapper resigned from the Academy. On Friday, the Academy issued a public statement to CNN:

“The Board has decided, for a period of ten years from April 8, 2022, Mr. Smith shall not be permitted to attend any Academy events or programs, in person or virtually, including but not limited to the Academy Awards,” Academy President David Rubin and CEO Dawn Hudson said.

They continued, “We want to express our deep gratitude to Mr. Rock for maintaining his composure under extraordinary circumstances. We also want to thank our hosts, nominees, presenters and winnders for their poise and grace during our telecast.”

Ooop Not Calling Will Smith ‘ghetto’ In So Many Words
