Bruce Willis is battling a speaking disorder caused by brain damage. The illness; obviously is consequently impacting his acting career. Our hearts go out to his family as they are suffering through this apparent rough time.
The Pulp Fiction actor’s daughter announced the news on behalf of the family on Wednesday:
“To Bruce’s amazing supporters; as a family we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues; and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities”; his family collectively wrote in a statement on social media.
“As a result of this and with much consideration Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him.”
“This is a really challenging time for our family and we are so appreciative of your continued love, compassion and support,” the statement continues. “We are moving through this as a strong family unit, and wanted to bring his fans in because we know how much he means to you, as you do to him.
As Bruce always says, ‘Live it up’ and together we plan to do just that.”
Aphasia leaves a person unable to communicate effectively with others; and is frequently the result of a stroke; according to Johns Hopkins Medical Center. According to Daily Mail; the actor was seen in 2020 during the set of American Seige wearing an earpeice prompter as the onset of the illness began. Apparently; he’s been battling aphasia for four years.

Willis is taking time to focus on his health and hasn’t said when he will return to the big screen.
