Cracker Barrel Was Ordered To Pay $9.4 Mil For Serving Chemical In Man’s Drink

It’s all in the name-with Cracker Barrel; as they’ve been hit with a prodigious lawsuit. The food service chain is accused of serving a customer chemicals disguised as water. Undoubtedly, the jury returned a verdict for compensatory damages of $4.3 million in just 30 minutes. Thus, said to be one of the fastest verdicts ever handed down. Nonetheless, the plaintiff was awarded punitive damages of $5 million after only 10 minutes of additional deliberation,” plaintiff William Cronnon’s attorney; Thomas Greer said in an interview with CNN.

“The speed of the verdict; combined with an amount in excess of what we asked; speaks to just how dangerous the Cracker Barrel policy was,” Greer said.

To this end, the restaurant responded; stating they were disappointed in the outcome; and the amount of the award; which is odd since the victim has been permanently injured; and also disabled as a result of being served the cleaning solution-tainted water in 2014; according to CNN.

Finally, the lawsuit alleges Cracker Barrel has failed to pay employees for off-the-clock work, including for work performed before and after their shifts and while waiting to be paid tips after they’ve clocked out. However, per the suit, workers spend as many as 10 to 45 minutes per shift waiting to be paid their tips. Shame!!
