Rogel Aguilera-Mederos, 26, told investigators he was driving a semi-tractor in April 2019, driving at 85 mph, when the brakes failed. He says he tried to pull over to the shoulder to avoid holding up traffic. Nonetheless the accident led to a 28-car pile-up that left four people dead, according to the Lakewood Police Department.
