Popeyes Restaurant Filled With Rats Is Finally Shut Down

A southeast Washington DC Popeyes will not have you ‘lovin that chicken’, since they were forced to shut down. It wasn’t until an employee outted them by recording rats running up the wall inside the establishment. Well, the franchise wasn’t pleased with the distribution of news, I guess ‘what stays in this house, stays in this house’. But that mindset isn’t applicable when you are affecting other people. Anyway, the employee was able to raise over 20k after he was fired for blowing the whistle on the hazard.

In the words of Summer Walker’s new hit single, ‘Throw It Away’. The whole Popeyes. I’ll be honest with you. The last few times I’ve had Popeyes it was extremely greasy and tasted horrible. And I grew up on Popeyes, and have always enjoyed the food. But I’ve recently sworn off the fast food chain after the last few negative experiences I’ve encountered with the food; so this is perfect timing for me. But the timing apparently wasn’t perfect for them, because they fired the employee who went viral with the TikTok video. The DC Popeyes sits right betwen a 7-11 convenience store and other restaurants; so it’s not uncommon to have rodents. However; this DC Popeyes didn’t pass inspection since they’ve incurred over seventeen violations. Hence the location is now shut down.

Popeyes Can’t Seem To Catch A Break

Meanwhile in Center City Philadelphia a Popeyes location is receiving major backlash for not allowing homeless people in the franchise.

A representative for Restaurant Brands International, which owns Popeyes as well as Burger King, said in an emailed statement Monday night: β€œAt Popeyes, we are committed to treating everyone with dignity and respect. All guests who follow government health and safety mandates, including wearing masks, are always welcome to dine in our restaurants. We are working with the franchise owner of this restaurant to further understand the situation.”
