It was a sad day for the fashion world Monday. First Black Louis Vuitton creative and founder of Off White fashion brand, Virgil Abloh died on Sunday. Starting in the fashion industry at the age of 18; the versatile fashion creative worked his way up to the top; as artistic director for Louis Vuitton menswear.
How Did He Die
Undoubtedly, the brilliant fashion creative; had been silently fighting for his life for two years before he lost the battle to cardiac angiosarcoma. It’s an aggressive rare form of cancer. Despite leaving many in shock, he passed away at the young age of 41. The fashoin icon leaves behind his wife Shannon Sundberg, whom he met in 2k during high school and ultimately married in 2009.

Virgil’s Death Was Announced First By His Labels On Social Media

“We are all shocked after this terrible news. Virgil was not only a genius designer, a visionary, he was also a man with a beautiful soul and great wisdom,”, wrote LVMH CEO Bernard Arnault. He continues, “The LVMH famiy joins me in this moment of great sorrow, and we are all thinking of his loved ones after the passing of their husband, their father, their brother or their friend”.

Virgil Abloh Was a Vast Philanthropist
The LV creative is not only known for bridging the gap between streetwear and high end fashion; however he’s incorporated philanthropy into his craft by creating and providing tee shirts to nonprofit organizations; graciously broadening the horizons within the fashion community. And so, leaving a part of his legacy is a scholarship fund he founded that’s partnered with the Fashion Scholarship Fund.

Several Icons And Celebs Paid Tribute To Virgil Abloh
The creative fashionista was admired and respected by so many in the industry. He’s styled so many celebrities from Serena Williams, to Spike Lee…Several artists and celebs expressed gratitude for Abloh; like Lenny Kravitz, The Weekend, Frank Ocean, and Pharell Williams who gave heartfelt grievances to their fashion friend. Plus, he and Kanye are long time friends, thus Ye paid tribute to him at his livestreamed service.
“In loving memory of Virgil Abloh, the creative director of Donda”, Kanye said. Additionally, the fashion mogul is the culprit for creating a custom style wedding dress for Justin Bieber’s wife, Hailey on their big day.

TMZ reported Monday that Kanye may really be having a hard time grieving his friend; since he wiped out his Instagram page. Not even 24 hours since the announcement of Abloh’s death, Ye deleted every single post on his IG.
