What Happened At Astroworld
The surge began at about 2:15 p.m. on Friday, when panic broke out as the crowd pressed towards the front of the stage during Scott’s headline set.
Additionally, it was reported that many concert attendees begged the security guards that were hired by Live Nation Entertainment; for help, but they were ignored.
“You couldn’t move, you couldn’t scratch your own face, [that’s how] tight it was,” Paredes said.
“People began to compress toward the front of the stage” causing panic and injuries. Police soon declared the scene a “mass casualty incident” about a half-hour into Scott’s set. However, according to The Daily Beast, Houston Police Chief Troy Finner revealed in a news conference on Saturday afternoon that his performance didn’t actually end until 10:10 pm:
“Our people stepped up [around 9:30 p.m.] and immediately went to the producers and told them, ‘Hey, people are going down.’”bbc news
