R. Kelly Music Has Been Streamed 500 Percent More Since His Conviction

R. Kelly has become increasingly popular since he’s been in and out of court fighting racketeering charges. His streams increased up to 500 percent last month following his conviction of several sex crimes. Nonetheless, his musical talent is undeniably matched. And fans have a hard time drawing that fine line of integrity.

Life is like a stock market graph. With highs and lows, it’s hard to surpass the lemons life throws at us at times. But when you can take those lemons and turn them into lemonade, now that’s the flex.

Over the past four years, streaming services like Apple Music and Spotify participated in the “Mute R. Kelly” wave, by not playing his songs. And many artists have pulled any collabs with the Pied Piper off their albums. Youtube removed all R Kelly platforms from their site. Nonetheless, R. Kelly’s music is still being streamed by fans globally. So much so that his streams have surpassed his 2017 streaming numbers which were averaging 5.4 million. Until recently, the numbers hit 6.4 million.

However, it’s not uncommon for this to happen in this industry, immediately following controversy. Namely, Michael Jackson, Lizzo, Cardi B and a host of others.
