A self proclaimed whistleblower on Facebook is from Iowa. And she could possibly be the reason all Influencers, boutique owners and bloggers held their breath for six hours on Monday. Nevertheless, waiting for three major social media outlets to unfreeze.
Frances Haugen, 37, a disgruntled Facebook employee from Iowa, quit her position with the blue app in May. She left because she claims Facebook is full of crock when it comes to protecting data, disarming acts of online hatred and political harmony.

One complaint said that Facebook’s Instagram harms teenage girls. “The thing I saw at Facebook over and over again was there were conflics of interest between what was good for the public and what was good for Facebook. And Facebook, over and over again, chose to optimize for its own interests, like making more money”.

She told Scott Pelley in a CBS News interview that she knew what was going on inside Facebook. She claimed their numbers didn’t match their reality. Allegedly, she secretly obtained tens of thousands of pages of Facebook’s internal documents. Claiming her receips further proved her point Facebook is not, in fact making progress towards social justice and hate violence. One study, she found, from this year, says, “we estimate that we may action as little as 3-5% of hate and about 6-tenths of 1% of V & I (violence & incitement) on Facebook despite being the best in the world at it.”
Unbelievably, she says she wants to promote Facebook and not bring harm to it. Conincidentally, after she blew the whistle, Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram shut down for the first time globally for 6 hours.
