Diamonte Quiava Valentine Harper came on the scene as a rapper by the name of ‘Saweetie’ in 2018 with her first single “Icy Girl” and was signed to Warner Records.
Earlier this month, fans had speculated something fishy between her and ex boo Quavo, after it appeared the couple had un-followed each other on social media. She shared with Cosmo magazine that after a bad review on a freestyle she performed on New York’s Hot 97 radio station in 2018 she suffered PTSD.
“I’m single. I’ve endured too much betrayal and hurt behind the scenes for a false narrative to be circulating that degrades my character” rapper Quavo’s ex tweeted Friday.
“It was a really dark point in my life. Going from being so loved so quickly because of ‘Icy Girl’ to, on my first promo run, well, you saw the interview. The script flipped really quick, like night and day. I was like, Wait…” she recalled. “I had PTSD from that.”
The incident happened when hosts Ebro Darden, Laura Stylez, and Peter Rosenberg prompted her to freestyle and she gave what was described as a “subpar” performance.
Did You Know
- Saweetie and Gabrielle Union are cousins.
- She almost served time behind bars for stealing
In an interview with Paris Hilton, Saweetie told her, “I didn’t get to have shopping sprees. I was told I couldn’t get certain things and almost went to jail for stealing my clothes,” she laughed, saying she grew tired of not having new things. “I got caught ’cause my friend got caught. Never encouraging this, but we was good at what we did. And I got caught.”
Her hottest single with Doha Cat ‘Best Friend’ has garnered more streams than Cardi B’s ‘Up’ last week. Looking forward to more projects and LP’s from Saweetie.
