There was a global groan in the fashion industry last week. Hearts broke when the eight winning Grammy award winning Robyn Rihanna Fenty announced she will be ‘tabling’ Fenty Fashion House. The line was launched back in the spring of 2019, with Rihanna being the first Black woman to lead a luxury fashion under the LVMH brand.
Although, SavageX Fenty (the lingerie line) will still be in operations, and is now worth over $1 billion; so don’t get the two confused. Per reports from both Women’s Wear Daily and Business of Fashion on Wednesday, LVMH and Rihanna have come to an agreement in which the brand will be temporarily closed.
Anyone in business for themselves knows it comes with pivoted repugnance. So, the Savage queen still “hasn’t ruled out taking a second run” at a luxury house in the future.

LVMH (Louis Vuitton, Moet, Hennessy) is the French conglomerate that financially supports the fashion house. It owns other brands like Dior and Celine.
“Women are forces of this earth. We are multifaceted, complex, vulnerable yet bulletproof and FENTY speaks to all of our intricacies”, Rihanna said in a statement from the brand.
“Some days I wanna be submissive, many days I’m completely in charge and most days I feel like being both…so it was imperative that we created a line versatile enough to embrace and celebrate us in that way. The collections are easily worn together and meant to be staples in our wardrobe. I’m just hyped to see people in my clothes, man”.
Moving Forward
The brand has said they will continue to focus on cosmetics and lingerie.
