Come thru ladies. Yaaassss. A whole new vibe on the widely known and watched 1980’s ‘Golden Girls’ sitcom. Tracee Ellis Ross has teamed up with Sanaa Lathan, Alfre Woodard and Regina King to get this….perform on Zoom Where It All Happens.
Yep, that’s right. In the wake of so many racial injustices, these icons want to support Color of Change- the world’s largest online racial injustice nonprofit. It appears that Lathan is Blanche, King is Dorothy, Ross is Rose and Woodard is Sophia.
“We bring to you our rendition of Golden Girls, reimagined with an all-Black cast of your favorite actresses”, reads a description of the project. The production takes place Tuesday at 9 p.m. Eastern time, and is free with registration. It will be directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood and hosted by actress Lena Waithe.
Ross continues to shine for women empowerment. Recently she had a reunion with former castmates ‘Girlfriends’ on her current hit, ‘Black-ish’. She told Entertainment Weekly, “It was giggles on top of giggles on top of giggles”. As women on the rise, we salute their passion and strength to continue to bring us laughs and enjoyment at such a not so great time right now.
