It’s still so unbelievable that the beautiful, young mom and ‘Glee’ actress is really gone. Naya Rivera’s family has released a statement saying they’re appreciative for the outpouring of love and prayers over the past week, since Naya’s body was confirmed on Monday.
According to TMZ, the autopsy was completed Tuesday and confirmed that she did, in fact, die by drowning. The family’s statement was released to Deadline by Rivera’s manager Gladys Gonzalez, “While we grieve the loss of our beautiful legend, we are blessed to honor her everlasting legacy and magnetic spirit. Naya was an amazing talent, but was an even greater person, mother, daughter and sister”.
They continued, “We extend endless gratitude and ovation to the heroine who found her. Thank you to her friends, colleagues, and fans for your continuous support. Heaven gained our sassy angel. We kindly request that our privacy be respected during this very difficult time”.
On Wednesday, after Rivera went missing for three hours during a pontoon boat ride. The man who rented her the boat later found her son on the boat, wearing his life jacket. Her son, Josey, told investigators he and his mother had gone swimming, and he had gotten back on the boat she hadn’t . An adult life jacket was found in the boat, along with Rivera’s identification, while her vehicle was parked in the parking lot.
According to CNN, Naya used her breathe to save her 4 year old son just before she passed away. According to Ventura County Sherriff, Bill Ayub, “She mustered enough energy to get her son back onto the boat, but not enough to save herself, he said on Monday.
Naya Rivera is survived by her parents, her brother, sister and son.
