Female emcee (rapper) Trina is got dragged this week for a comment she made on Wednesday in regard to the world wide movement in the wake of the unjustified murder of George Floyd.

The Love & Hip Hop Miami reality star – real name Katrina Laverne Taylor- made the remarks while speaking with fellow Miami rapper and radio host Trick Daddy about the ubiquitous civil unrest that has managed to make it’s way all the way around the entire globe, resulting in looting, burning down corporations and establishments, stores, small businesses…you name it. The looters went after it.

Despite the looter population only making up a small number of overall protesters genuinely seeking justice and peace for all, The Baddest Bish made it clear on her 99 Jamz morning radio that she would like for Miami-Dade County to move up it’s 9 p.m. curfew.

“They need to make the curfew at 6 p.m.” she said. “Keep everybody off the street-these animals off the streets-that are running around Miami-Dade County acting like they have escaped from a zoo. Lock them up at 5 p.m. so the streets can be nice and clean, that’s how I feel. “

Trina went on to explain that looters and vandals have hit her friend’s shop in the area and that regardless of her friend having insurance, her good good girl friend still has a family and is suffering because of not being opened right now.

Trina Made a Statement that Made Fans Cringe

“They run through, tear down our stores and burn down our stuff, breaking our stores and go and tear up Bayside Marketplace and tear up my friend’s shop that has a son and a family to take care of,” said Trina. “You gonna demolish her shop for something? No.

Well, we hear you Trina. But here’s what Trick Daddy had to say in response, who is a philanthropist himself, “It’s nothing personal.”

However, Trina wasn’t trying to hear it. She retorted, “It’s definitely personal ’cause I feel like at the end of the day…she got insurance, but she’s also been locked down for 60 days also like us and she also don’t have money like me, so I don’t approve of it. Period. ‘Cause you know what, nobody’s burning down {Trick Daddy’s Miami restaurant}, Sunday’s Eatery, let’s be very clear. You have insurance.”

Nonetheless, Trina continued to argue her point, adding that the rage will not bring back the lives that have been lost at the hands of police brutality.

“We can’t bring back nobody lives that has been taken away, whether it’s from the police or the hands of another civilian,” she said. “We cannot bring them back. You cannot pump life back into them at all. I can’t bring back my little brother’s life-his life was taken by the hands of a man, a black man.”

So Many Unlawful Deaths Have Taken Place at the Hands of Police Recently

Regarddless, she further lamented that she believes many individuals are merely opportunists looking to take advantage of the outrage surrounding George Floyd’s death and “are not even caring” about the message being presented.

Well, you know what Trina, I would say this to that:

“It’s not about bringing anyone back. Yes, they are gone. But how about let’s give those who are coming after us a chance to live, a chance to ‘breathe’. No, we cannot bring back the dead. They are gone, God rest their precious souls. We must go on. However, the sentiment is more so HOW will we go on? Do we continue to lose our black brothers and sisters to senseless murders at the hands of those are placed in order to serve and protect?”

Eventually once your voice is no longer being heard, you start to REACT. Yes, some of the looters are not there to serve any other purpose but to tear ish up. We get that. But there are some that are not. There are some that, situations like these may be their only chance at having a little something. And some are just fed up. At a point, you start to not care so much about these material buildings and enterprises when the world doesn’t care about you.

Check out this educated sister’s stance on the looting and rioting. Listen to the history of our ancestors and how the game is set up so that we can never win. It’s like a game of chess. And we must watch our moves from here on out. We are on to something. Slowly but surely.

Trina Eventually Apologized

According to The Source, Trina did apologize for referring to the protesters as animals. “I just want to say, I apologize to everybody I offended by what I said. I spoke passionately about people destroying our community here in Miami, Florida, Dade County, Liberty City, the inner cities. I’m not trying to take away anything from anyone or anybody that was abused by the police. And I can see where that was insensitive”.

Thank you Trina for recognizing that. Big hugs to you and may your brother who was lost to gun violence forever rest in power. xoxoxoxoxo
